(The Sunday Assembly is an organized gathering of nonbelievers, similar to church but with stories and songs instead of scripture or confession, held in London, but with aspirations to take it worldwide.) In an article on The Economist's Erasmus blog, the initialed bloggers J.S and B.C examine the Sunday Assembly for what it appears to be: an atheist church. The article raises an interesting point about whether or not pure charisma, which the founders of the Assembly certainly have, can be franchised a la religions, or if you need some connection to the spiritual or ethereal to infect the minds of the masses. The comments section is quite interesting as well.
